Step 01

Choose Your Business Activity

  • Mainland: Operate anywhere in the UAE with local and international trade access. 
  • Free Zone: 100% foreign ownership with tax benefits, but limited to free zone operations.  
  • Offshore: Ideal for international business without physical office requirements.  

Step 03

Choose a Company Name

  • Select a unique and compliant business name.
  • Ensure it follows UAE’s naming guidelines (no offensive or religious terms).
  • Get the name approved by the relevant authorities. 

Step 04

 Apply for Initial Approvals

  • Submit an application to the Department of Economic Development (DED) or Free Zone Authority.
  • Get approvals from relevant government entities (e.g., municipality, ministries) if required.  

Step 05

Prepare Legal Documents

  • Draft and notarize the Memorandum of Association (MOA) and other required documents. 
  • Depending on the jurisdiction, agreements with local service agents or shareholders may be needed.  

Step 06

Secure a Business License

  • Apply for the appropriate trade license (Commercial, Industrial, or Professional). 
  • Get approvals from the respective authority (DED for mainland, Free Zone Authority for free zone).  

Step 07

Find a Business Location

  • Rent a physical office or opt for a virtual office (if applicable in Free Zones). 
  • Obtain the tenancy contract (Ejari for mainland businesses).

Step 08

Register for Corporate Bank Account

  • Choose a UAE bank and submit the required documents.  
  • Set up business banking facilities, including payment processing solutions.

Register for VAT (if applicable)

  • Businesses exceeding the VAT threshold must register with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA).
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and maintain proper financial records.  

Step 10

Obtain Visas and Employee Permits

  • Apply for Investor Visa, Employee Visas, and Dependent Visas as needed.  
  • Register employees with Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation (MOHRE) for labor contracts.
